My office laptop had upgraded to Windows 7. I have no intention to upgrade it but just because my Operating System encountered errors, I can’t boot up my laptop. So I sent it to my local I.T. department and they told me is my O.S. issue, need to either reinstall back the original O.S. or upgrade it to Windows 7.
They upgraded it to Windows 7 and at the same time they fixed my keypad issue. 2 of the keypad buttons are not functioning. Is functioning but just the button are losing, very easy came out. The I.T. guy asked me to send another request to H.Q., and then only they will fix it for me.
After getting back my laptop, I feel like getting a new laptop due to different O.S. and new keypad. Is cool right?
Yes, my company had declared new benefit to the staff. It was declared few months ago. It was Birthday leave. Why declared few months ago and now only I want to talk about it? The story is like this.
This month is my birthday, so I apply Birthday leave. Before apply, I asked someone how to apply it. Very simple, just wrote an email to your boss and forward his/her reply to floor representative.
I followed her instruction but I got rejected from my boss. The reason was I still have many leave on hand. So he wants me to clear it first because starting this year we can’t carry our balance leave to next year.
And he told me this is not a valid benefit because it subject to your boss to approve or not approve. If is like that, then HR shouldn’t declare it as a benefit. For me benefits mean everyone will have it without any objection. And this Birthday leave not everyone will get it, it depends on your boss.
Sigh, really have no idea on what HR trying to do. For me , this HR can be having and can be not. They do not really benefit us.
No wonder I did not receive the email that they mentioned these few days. After checking on the email group, only realize my name is not there, my name still in the old group that had expired long time ago. The I.T. team did not update my group information and I am the only person in my floor is excluded. How come they are so careless?
Today I had sent out an email and request them to include my name into the group. So I should be receiving the same information in future.
Yesterday attended the talk from HR regarding the new bonus payout system. It was presented by local HR manager. They split it into few groups and I believe I am in the last group as I knew my other department colleagues had attended it.
Currently our bonus payout is depends on personal performance which we called PPR and company performance. Each employee will have their own base figure. But this figure has not change since 2 years ago. So the formula is like this PPR (%) X BASE X Company (%) => bonus. The BASE is fixed.
Now they came out this system. The formula still the same but the BASE will change every year. Our BASE will be our last year bonus figure. So, if you didn’t perform last year plus the company performance is bad, then your bonus will be screw up. You need few years to build back the base, and are not easy to do it in real life. And in future, our bonus base will be smaller and smaller.
But our HR manager is saying different from what we think. She always looks at the good side and ignores the bad side. In real life, it is not saying we want to get it means we can get it, there are many other issues on behind. So we ended up with not satisfy, but we can’t do anything, we just need to follow.
Yes, the long holiday has over and today many people start working, but they are still a portion continue their holiday till end of this weekend.
I also start work today, but I work from home. This is because my other colleagues are taking leave today, so if I go to office, it will be only I alone there. So rather save petrol stay at home better. I wonder my boss will go to office or not. If he did, then he will be alone there and he will handle all the calls. Tomorrow will be the day I go to office after a long break.
Today will be my first day of HTML5 training. The training will take 2 days. I missed the last month training so I have to join this month training. Last month was held in Asia time zone, but this month will be UK time zone. The training will be whole day training so it will be Malaysia time starting from 3:30pm till 11:30pm.
I think it will be tough time for me as the last time I picked out HTML was many years ago. So I believe there will be many question marks in my mind. But it is good to learn it as now the direction are in web based, so it will be a good future with this knowledge.
My company had changed the below policy.
Change of annual leave policy:
All annual leave must be cleared by Dec 31 of each year. However, if required, associates are allowed to carry forward 5 days of annual leave to 31st March of the following year. The balance of leave (5 days) has to be cleared by 31st March. Any unconsumed leave will be forfeited after 31st March of each year.
The annual leave benefit is intended to offer work-life balance. All vacation leave has to be utilized within the same calendar year. Any unconsumed will be forfeited after 31st December of each year. Employees in Global Bands 9 and 10 will be allowed to carry forward their unused leave, subject to Malaysia Statutory requirements.

All employees cover under Employment Act 1955 will be allowed to carry forward unutilized leave up to 12 months on the following year.
To ensure a harmonious work environment for all concerned, we have some guidelines, policies, rules and code of conduct for all to observe.
Referring to Clause 8 of employee handbook, we will add the item below to the misconduct list:
Employees will be considered as having violated the Company’s Code of Conduct if the events below take place:
Sharing of your compensation and benefits information (including your basic salary amount and bonus payout amount) to non authorised employees (employees other than HR and immediate superior) in the company.
The above is applicable to all employees based in Malaysia without regards if you are locally reporting or regionally/globally reporting associates.
It is sad that I am not allowed to carry forward my leave for next year Chinese New Year. Is their reason really the truth? For me, I don’t think that’s the reason. I guess it is because people resigned with many annual leave left, so it is not enough time for them to hands on the work to others and they had to pay for their annual leave to make them stayed for 2 months. I think this company is getting worst and worst.
Training planned for today and tomorrow but unfortunately I can’t access to their training site. My colleagues they got no problem on connecting to the training site, but I can’t.
I sent an email to the customer support but did not get the solution for it.
It is clearly is my machine issue, but I can’t figure out. Until someone replied me with a list of system requirements then only I found out my Java was crashed. I confirmed is Java crashed because I saw many error logs were created on my desktop.
The site response was different between office and home. I can see the site screen details but I can’t see it at office. After fixing the Java on my machine, I managed to connect to the test connection. So I sent an email back to the training center and told them I managed to connect, then should I go for tomorrow training or join next available session? Now just wait for their reply.
